In 1968 the Nicaragua Cigar Co. became the first cigar manufacturer in Nicaragua creating some of the finest and most respected cigars of the 1970's.

During this time many different blends were developed form the unique rich and flavourful tobaccos grown in Esteli and Jalapa. From all these great blends that were created at the time, the company focused its attentions on strong powerful cigars culminating in the Joya de Nicaragua range, so popular over the world.

In 2005 successors of the original company got involved in a project to rediscover some of the lost blends of the 1970's. After much development work and sampling, a particular flavourful, medium strength combination which had first been developed a generation ago was rediscover. The blend was so exceptional that Tobaccos Puros agreed to honour the rediscovery by giving it one of its treasured old brand names 'Flor de Nicaragua'. Now this descendant of the Legend' is offered for the pleasure of aficionados worldwide.
