This tobacco is a blend containing 75% dark fired leaf 12.5% Malawi Burley and 12.5% Virginia. Your would therefore rightly expect a very strong smoke and one perhaps dominated by the pungent burnt smokey flavour so characteristics of leaf cured by open fire and smoke. With only slightly over 50% flue-cured virginias from Brazil, Zimbabwe and Malawi and 31% dark fired leaf this is a fairly strong smoke. The addition of some sweeter sun cured leaf from Malawi and the rich cigar type notes from the dark air cured Indian grade help to sound off the blend.The special Virginia casings complement the top notes derived from the addition of sharper flavours including oil of cloves and rose geranium

This is virtually a blend reversal of Coniston Cut PLug with 75% Flue-cured Virginia. 16 % dark fired 9% Burley. The blend therefore has far milder characteristics; and is rounded off with the addition of typical English flavours, and a touch of vanilla

Manufactured by spinning tobacco leaves into a thicker rope than the standard curly cut which is then made into a roll form, pressed, and finally sliced to produce round tobacco circles. Unlike the whole ropes, which use all dark leaf, this rope is spun using Bright Virginia outer wrapper leaves. This gives the tobacco a milder nature as well as an attractive contrast in color

Perique is a rare, slow buring, strong-tasting tobacco. Production is small which makes it a bit more expensive. Perique is a deeply aromatic tobacco with a fragrance somewhere between cooked fruit (prunes) and sautéed mushrooms. Like latakia, perique is a naturally fermented condiment tobacco and is used rather sparingly. Its rich, black color and leathery texture compliment its delicate flavor.
