Romeo y Julieta 'WIDE' Churchill released

Hard on the Heels of the Cohiba Behike we have just received our first consignment of the new Romeo Y Julieta “Wide” Churchill. Not so much a Churchill as a large Robusto at 130mm x 55 ring gauge. The new cigar looks very appetising and should appeal to those who appreciate a heavy ring gauge and balanced aroma synonymous with the Romeo y Julieta brand.

Roemo y Julieta Wide Churchill

The colour of the wrapper leaf resembles early examples of the smaller and highly popular “Short Churchill”. In fact given the marginal difference in price I can see a number of devotees of the latter switching allegiance to the new, fatter cigar which is of a similar medium strength. My initial, favourable impression is of a cigar which is quite imposing and unique in terms of its size. Certainly destined to appeal to devotees of robustos. Available in boxes of 25 and 10 cigars.

It is the first time that Habanos has produced a "Cañonazo" size outside the fabled Cohiba Siglo V1. The Grand Edmundo Edición Limitada provides all Montecristo's characteristic bitter/tangy flavour in one of the most impressive sizes or vitolas. Awesome !

PARTAGAS SERIE D ESPECIAL

The character and intense flavour of this Serie D Especial Edición Limitada will undoubtedly appeal to fans of the Partagas marque who appreciate previous Serie D cigars . Sure to be popular.

TRINIDAD SHORT ROBUSTOS T

Factory name: Short Del Valle
Measures: Ring Gauge 50 ( 19,84mm) x 102 mm in length
Presentation: SBN box in a single layer of 12 units.

No sooner have we enjoyed the new Trinidad T Robusto than we are presented with the "Short T" Edición Limitada 2010. Epensive it may be but the new mini Robusto with its dark Maduro wrapper may be a real hit with those who appreciate rich, flavourful cigars. Certainly a cigar to lay down for the future just to see how complex it becomes ? Loads of potential.

Cohiba Behike

THE COHIBA BEHIKE is launched at the 2010 Festival in Cuba
Cohiba Behike

Launched as part of the Gala dinner which brings the XII Habanos Festival in Cuba to a close - a new range of 3 large Cohiba Behike cigars followed the earlier appearance of a "Wide" Churchill and all new "Julieta" from Romeo Y Julieta. This prestigious line of large cigars is the first major offering from Habanos since the launch of the Cohiba Maduro 5 range at the IX Festival some three years ago.

The word "Behike" means "Indian Chief" and the new range, which was enjoyed for the first time at the Gala Evening on 26th February 2010, will be produced in very limited quantities each year at the El Laguito factory, and the rolling process, using tobacco leaves selected from the finest plantations in San Juan y Martínez and San Luis, will incorporate the Medio Tiempo for the first time – a rare tobacco leaf which offers exceptional character and taste. The natural scarcity of the Medio Tiempo, taken from the upper leaves of sun-grown tobacco plants, will inevitably lead to limited availability and relatively high prices.

Cohiba Behike

Whilst the Cohiba Behike joins existing lines within the Cohiba brand name its three entirely new sizes with the accent on heavy ring gauge are unique. Offering an excellent combustion, they will allow the smoker to appreciate and enjoy the full intensity of its flavour: BHK 52 (52 band gauge x 119mm length), BHK 54 (54 band gauge x 144mm length) and BHK 56 (56 band gauge x 166mm length) constitute a formidible new range of large cigars.

Each of these new sizes are presented in an exclusive lacquered box of 10 cigars with a distinctive, modern new black band that incorporates two security holograms .

          Behike                               Wide Churchill

Earlier during the Festival the " Wide Churchill" - a new vitola from the Romeo y Julieta range - was enjoyed at the Welcome Evening.

Its special dimensions ( 55 band gauge x 130mm ), unique to Habanos, make the Wide Churchill not only distinctive but appealling for those smokers who appreciate heavy ring gauge cigars with a well-balanced aromatic flavour.

Julieta
        Wide Churchill

The new "Julieta" - not surprisingly also from Romeo Y Julieta - has been specially designed to appeal to ladies who enjoy fine cigars. Made with tobaccos from Vuelta Abajo, the Julieta is a slender, medium length aromatic cigar (33 band gauge x 120mm) with the characteristics of a Habano that can be enjoyed in a short amount of time. The pack in which it is presented has been exclusively designed for this vitola, reproducing the colours and logo of the brand, but with a modern touch of rounded borders that makes it very practical and easy to carry. Stylish, feminine and ideal for the modern woman.

EMS Security Stamp and Counterfeit for Havana Cigars 2010

EMS stands for 'English Market Selection' a description used in Cuba for over a century to identify the quality of cigars designated for the British market. It is the cornerstone of the UK's long established reputation as the world centre for the finest Havanas.

Since 1993 the EMS Stamps are applied to boxes of Havanas that have passed a UK quality inspection.

In 1997 the colour of the stamps changed and have continued to do so annually. All packs of Havanas selected for sale in the UK domestic market bear the EMS stamp
