Montecristo 'Media Corona' Now Available in Tins of 5

Montecristo 'Media Corona' Now Available in Tins of 5

London, England, 4, June 2018.

Now available in Tins of 5 With stylish side-sliding lid !

The Montecristo Medias Corona represents the second time that this format has been used and, at just 3½ inches long, it remains the shortest long-filler handmade Cuban cigar you can buy.

The taste that has made Montecristo the world's most sought-after premium cigar is often described as "tangy". Certainly the flavour is distinctive.

Other words commonly used to describe the taste include 'coffee' and 'cocoa beans', 'pepper' as well as 'orange peel', 'cinnamon' and 'vanilla', all of which lead to the conclusion that a delicious bitter-sweet, spicy taste lies at the heart of Montecristo's success combined, of course, with the perfect balance of its tobacco blend.

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 Reserva Cosecha 2012

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 Reserva Cosecha 2012

London, England, 21, March 2018.

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 Reserva are available now. These iconic Robusto sized (4 7/8 x 50) cigars from Habanos SA's much loved brand Hoyo de Monterrey are definitely not to be missed. The cigars are only available in extremely limited numbers with just 5,000 numbered boxes containing 20 cigars produced for global market.

All the tobacco used to produce these remarkable cigars was harvested in 2012. Then, once graded, air cured and fermented, have been allowed to age in bales for three years before being presented to the torcedor (cigar roller) to make the final masterpiece.

The Reserva Series features different packaging and a black and silver band. Another difference from the standard release Epicure No. 2's is that the Hoyo and Epicure bands have been combined in to 1 band, rather than 2 separate bands. I imagine this is so that the cigar isn't "triple banded" as that could be a bit odd.

The Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012 was announced at the 2016 Festival del Habano and has had cigar aficionados eagerly waiting for the official release. If you are able to stock up on these now, it would be a good idea as they won't last long.

Brand: Hoyo de Monterrey

Commercial Name: Robusto

Measures: 50 ring gauge x 4 7/8 inches in length

Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva Wide Churchills Cosecha 2009

Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva Wide Churchills Cosecha 2009

London, England, 23, February 2018.

The term Gran Reserva applies only to Habanos whose fillers, binders and wrappers have all been aged for at least 5 years prior to rolling. In addition, only the “best of the best” leaves from Vuelta Abajo, the finest tobacco growing zone in Cuba and arguably the world, are chosen to undergo the lengthy ageing process to ensure that the final product when smoked will offer a unique balanced blend of rich flavours and mature aromas.

The iconic Cohiba Siglo VI was the first cigar presented as a Gran Reserva in 2009 and was rolled using tobaccos harvested several years previous (Cosecha 2003). The iconic Montescristo No.2 vitolafollowed in 2011 (Cosecha 2005) and a couple of years later the PartagasLusitania (Cosecha 2007). Now it is the Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchill which has been selected to be honoured as a Gran Reserva, albeit nearly three years after it was first showcased at the Festival del Habanos in Cuba.

Like its predecessors, the Wide Churchill Gran Reserva (Cosecha2009) are presented in beautiful lacquered boxes which hold 15 double banded cigars. Each box is numbered and there is very limited supply as only 5,000 boxes (75,000 cigars) are produced in total for the global market.

New H. Upmann Robusto Añejado (Aged Habanos) AVAILABLE !

New H. Upmann Robusto Añejado (Aged Habanos) AVAILABLE !

London, England, 24, Janaury 2018.

The launching of H. Upmann Robustos Añejados (50 ring gauge x 124 mm length) provides continuity to the concept introduced earlier 2015 in two brands: Romeo y Julieta Pirámides Añejados (52 ring gauge x 156 mm long) and Montecristo Churchills Añejados (47 ring gauge x 178 mm long) followed by Partagás Coronas Gordas Añejados (46 ring gauge x 143 mm length) and Hoyo de Monterrey Hermosos Nº4 (48 ring gauge x 127 mm length) in 2016.

H. Upmann Robustos Añejados is presented as a Special Edition in limited quantities which make them unique. The Habanos have undergone an ageing process of between 5 and 8 years.

Through the ageing process the cigars have become rounder and mellower to the palate, getting touches of wood taste thanks to the years of rest with the cedar protecting it.

H. Upmann Robustos Añejados does not exist in the standard portfolio of the brand. Only used as 2012 Edición Limitada and when it was launched in a Travel humidor exclusively designed for Duty Free and Travel Retail Channels, with a great acceptance. The Robustos size is highly appreciated by Habanos smokers. On this occasion, it is an offer for those who like thick ring gauges and light to medium flavour Habanos and have the opportunity to taste this aged Habano which will be at the market with a limited availability.

Habanos Añejados are commercialized in their original boxes, which remained unlabeled during the entire ageing process and that have been dressed with the corresponding labelling of each brand to be introduced to the market.

These Habanos are presented in labelled boxes, with double ring, external stick with the legend "Añejados" and with a vitolina describing the concept. On the bottom of the box the date when the Habanos were made can be verified. "Revisado" (Checked) is also stamped on the bottom of the box, since 100% of the boxes have been opened and all the cigars have been checked one by one.

Romeo y Julieta Petit Royale a New Cigar !!

Romeo y Julieta Petit Royale a New Cigar !!

London, England, 8, December 2017.

Introducing the latest offering from Romeo y Julieta which is an entirely unique size within the Habanos SA portfolio and now the shortest cigar within the brand’s current range. Measuring just 3 5/8" (95mm) in length, it is even more diminutive than the Petit Julietas that have been such firm favourites with UK cigar smokers over the years. However although it is short, the Petit Royale has a ring gauge of 47 (perhaps inspired by the iconic R&J Churchill cigar of the same girth) making it a far bigger and more rewarding smoke than it perhaps first appears.

The factory name for cigars this size and shape is “Caprichos”, from the Spanish word meaning “whims”. It is produced to the classic medium-bodied R&J blend and is destined to be a whim that gets enjoyed many times by all cigar lovers.

Ideal for when time is limited, or the standard UK weather makes it difficult to stay outdoors for long.

The World Launch of the Cohiba Talismán LE 2017. London, Tuesday 7th November.

The World Launch of the Cohiba Talismán LE 2017. London, Tuesday 7th November.

London, England, 3, November 2017.

This ticket ( see right ) is your passport to the World launch of the new Cohiba Talisman Limited Edition for 2017 to take place here in London on Tuesday 7th November.

Tickets for the event at over £200.00 each are already sold-out and there is a substantial waiting list for those who want to be first to sample the new cigar !

The Talismán is one of the most eagerly anticipated cigar releases for many years and joins a group of iconic Cohiba vitolas that have been launched within the Habanos Limited Edition concept. This includes previous releases such as the Cohiba Sublimes (2004), Cohiba1966 (2011) and the most recent Cohiba Supremos(2014). The Talismán is destined to become a firm favourite and will soon sit proudly in the Cohiba Limited Edition hall of fame.

Measuring an impressive 6 1/8" (154mm) x 54 ring gauge, these stunning cigars are presented in 10s in the traditional Cohiba style of varnished slide lid boxes (SLB). The blend matches the flavour profile of Cohiba's La Línea Clasica range (medium to full) with the head of each cigar typically finished with a "pigtail".

All the tobaccos used in a Limited Edition cigar are aged for at least two years. However, in addition the Seco and Ligero leaf in Cohiba cigars undergo an 'extra fermentation' for as long as eighteen months in cedar barrels. Cohibas are the only Cuban cigars to undergo this process and it provides all of their cigars with a unique smoothness. The Maduro wrapper leaf that has been used to dress this cigar provides just a touch of sweetness and additional strength that provides the keynote for its overall character.

Cigar Aficionado No1 Cigar of the Year 2016 La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull ARRIVED !!

Cigar Aficionado No1 Cigar of the Year 2016 La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull ARRIVED !!

London, England, 6, September 2017.

The La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull is a truly new concept within the La Flor Dominicana’s portfolio of fine cigars. The size is based on an old cigar mould that Litto Gomez found in Belgium. Naming it after Andalusia was a nod to Spain, the country where Litto Gomez was born and the silhouette of a matador on the band represents the celebrated history of the sport of bullfighting in Andalusia. The shade of green is similar to that of the Andalusian flag whilst the font is based on Pablo Picasso’s handwriting—he loved to paint bulls—and the scrollwork reflects patterns found on a matador’s uniform.

Fittingly with this combination of heavy-handed & subtle symbolism comes a blend that is both bold and refined. Litto Gomez and his son Tony collaborated on the cigar and spent a fair amount of time fine-tuning the blend. The result is a cigar that is as intriguing in flavour as it is in appearance First impressions are bold and savoury with strong notes of hickory & leather but it continues to take on a complex spiciness of saffron and cumin as well as a slight tangy note that brings the strength and spice together—and it only gets better with every puff! Wrapper: Ecuador Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Dominican Republic This marks the first time that La Flor Dominicana have been awarded No1 Cigar of the Year.

Cigars Unlimited 15th Anniversary Cigar Auction

Cigars Unlimited 15th Anniversary Cigar Auction

London, England, 8, July 2017.

CigarsUnlimited would like to extend their sincere thanks to all who attended our 15th Anniversary Auction of fine cigars on the evening of Tuesday the 27th of June.

Charles Miller, Immediate past Master of the Worshipful Company of Pipe Makers & Tobacco Blenders, conducted the sale amid an enthusiastic audience who drove prices of some Cuban cigars to record levels previously unseen at auction.

The niche theme of the auction was the many Cuban Limited Edition and Regional Edition cigars, dating from 2002, which have been released during the past 15 years since we first opened our shop in Fulham.

Many of the Lots offered for sale had been stored and conditioned in our humidor since release and could fairly be described as simply the "best of the best" from these many unique releases. This was possibly the driving force behind the bidding which saw a record price of £4,600 achieved for a box of Cohiba Siglo V1 Gran Reservas. A box of Partagas Serie D4 Reservas reached £3,000 and the Cohiba Sublimes from 2004 sold for £3,200.00.

After the Auction guests were treated to a traditional Cuban 'Mojitos' expertly made by Sr. Juan Pablo Garcia along with an excellent Partagas Serie D No5 Limited Edition from 2008.

"Medio Siglo" a New Vitola in Cohiba RELEASED !

London, England, 15 Mar 2017.

As part of Cohiba's 50th anniversary celebrations last year, a new vitola or size was

Introduced to their "La Linea 1492" or Siglo range called the Medio Siglo.

Translating to "half century" the new cigar is the first new vitola to be added to the

Siglo range of cigars since the Siglo VI back in 2002 and is destined to become as iconic.

I believe this small, compact and chunky little cigar will have a huge impact and become a favourite of those who enjoy the brand.

Why you may ask ? Well the Medio Siglo carries the girth of a Siglo VI ( 52 RING GAUGE ) and the length of a Siglo I ( 4 inches ). It's a hybrid of two hugely popular vitolas and epitomises the current fashion for short, fat cigars which can be consumed in a relatively short time frame.

More importantly the blend of tobaccos is instantly recognisable as Cohiba at its best.

They taste as good as they smoke. Enjoy !

The XIX Habano Festival had finished with the Montecristo brand as the main protagonist.

The XIX Habano Festival had finished with the Montecristo brand as the main protagonist.

La Habana, Cuba 3 Mar 2017.

XIX Habanos Festival this year principally features the Montecristo brand and a new range of prestigious cigars entitled the "Linea 1935" or 1935 Line. These three new sizes or vitolas pay homage to the brand which was first launched at the Dunhill store in New York City in 1935.

With a full strength flavour for the first time the first two sizes are brand new vitolas in the Habanos portfolio. The Maltés measures 53×153 mm. While the Dumas is shorter at 49 x 130 mm. But the Leyenda or "Legend" at 55 x 165mm mirrors the special limited edition Montecristo 80 Aniversario, launched in 2015 to commemorate the brand's 80th Anniversary. All cigars come in boxes of 20 much as the earlier "Open" range.

H.Upmann fans will be pleased by the introduction of a "Sir Winston" Gran Reserva Cosecha 2011 (47 x 178 mm) available in only 5,000 numbered black lacquered boxes.

Gran Reservas use tobacco from a specific crop-in this case 2011-that is deemed special enough for a vintage. They are limited, typically to 5,000 boxes of 15, that are substantially higher-end than the typical packaging. While the Sir Winston is officially the 2017 entry, Habanos S.A. has not been releasing the cigars in normal fashion.

The 2015 release-the Romeo y Julieta Wide Churchills Gran Reserva Cosecha 2009-has still not been released, neither has the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No.2 Reserva Cosecha 2012, which was last year's Reserva.

While it might take a while for the Sir Winston Gran Reserva to show up on shelves, prerelease versions will be given to attendees of the gala dinner at the end of this week's XIX Festival del Habano in Havana.

Meanwhile Quai D'Orsay receives a make-over with an all new brand / band design and the introduction of 3 cigars - the Corona Claro plus two entirely new vitolas the No 50 (50 x 110 mm) and No 54 (54 x135 mm) - galera name: Edmundo Grueso. This is the very first time the Edmundo Grueso vitola goes into Habanos S.A.'s classic portfolio.

Finally the brand Romeo y Julieta presents the all new Petit Royales (47 x 95 mm), a fashionable size with a heavy ring gauge and short length for those that face a time constraint when smoking cigars

The Edition Limitadas for 2017 will feature

- Cohiba Talisman 6 ½ (154mm) X 54 in Boxes of 10

- Partagás Serie No.1 5 3/8 (138mm) x 52 in Boxes of 25

- Punch Regios de Punch 4 ¾ (120mm) x 48 also in Boxes of 25

PARTAGAS

PARTAGAS "MADURO No.1" AVAILABLE AGAIN !

London, England, January 25th.

Partagas Maduro No.1 Returned !. Presented in SBN boxes of 25, measure 5 1/8" x 52 (VdG: Maduro No.1) and are dressed with a second identifying band.

Maduro describes a very dark shade of wrapper leaf. The leaves are harvested from the top of the shade grown tobacco plant and after air curing, natural fermentation and ageing, assume their rich, dark, oily appearance which adds a "top-taste" to the blend which many describe as sweet. Dedicating Maduro wrappers to a vitola is not a totally new concept for Habanos s.a. In 2007 they launched the Cohiba Maduro 5 range in three sizes. However, this is brand new for Partagas and the size is also not currently found in the brand's portfolio.

Available only in La Casa del Habano or a Havana Cigar Specialists.

New 2017 EMS Stamp

New 2017 EMS Stamp

London England, January 4th.
Hunters & Frankau have issued the new English Market Selection (EMS) badge for 2017.

The EMS description has been used by Cuba for over a century, with many people contending that it originally reflected the reputation of the English market for accepting only the very finest cigars that Cuba had to offer. Others maintain it was used to distinguish cigars destined for England from those bound for the USA. At the time the English preference was for dark cigars while the American Market Selection (AMS) reflected a propensity for specially treated light green cigars (Candelas).

Either way, the EMS stamp, in its current form, was launched by Hunters & Frankau in 1993 as a way of marking out boxes that have passed the UK quality inspection and of assuring customers of the cigars quality and authenticity.

All boxes that carry this mark are guaranteed to have:

- EMS-2016-(Clear-Background)

- Come directly from Habanos S.A. in Cuba to Hunters & Frankau.

- Been shipped and stored by experts.

- Passed a UK quality check.

- Paid all UK Duties.

- The correct UK health warnings

JUAN LOPEZ 'SELECCIÓN SUPERBA' 2016 UK Habanos Regional Edition

JUAN LOPEZ 'SELECCIÓN SUPERBA' 2016 UK Habanos Regional Edition

London England, November 11th.

The Selección Superba is the second vitola to represent the Juan Lopez brand as a UK Habanos Regional Edition. The first was in 2009 with the Selección Suprema which became a firm favourite with Habanos enthusiasts and cigar collectors. Like its predecessor, the Selección Superba once again doffs its cap to its past with an old style Juan Lopez band which has been recreated especially for this cigar. The original band that was discovered revealed that it was customary for Juan Lopez cigars to include size names on the band and there was evidence of additional embossing. Both of these features have been faithfully recreated, including the design of the Tapa clavo (label covering the nail that secures the lid) which has also been revived as a tribute to this old Habanos brand.

Measuring 5?" (150mm) x 54 ring gauge, the Selección Superba are presented in dressed boxes of 10 cigars.

Each box is numbered and only 6,000 boxes have been exclusively produced for sale in the UK .

Everything's bigger in Texas! Alec Bradley 'TEXAS LANCERO'

Everything's bigger in Texas! Alec Bradley 'TEXAS LANCERO'

London England, November 5th.

Everything's bigger in Texas!

In America, and growing rapidly across the globe, the demand for thicker, longer cigars has changed the shape of the cigar industry (get it?). Alec Bradley answers the bell with this new, ironically named behemoth of a handmade, the Texas Lancero. This massive, 7"x70 giant will set you in a state (get it?) of euphoria for what seems like days.

Along with its gargantuan size comes enormous flavour. A bevy of Nicaraguan, Honduran, and Costa Rican long-fillers plump up this monster before it's all secured by a gleaming Nicaraguan wrapper leaf. A rich and spicy profile is supported by notes of citrus, leather, and nuts to create a delicious, medium-bodied profile you'll want to burn for hours. And thankfully, this big-ring beauty obliges and burns just about as long as you'll let it.

It is a tradition in the Vuelta Abajo zone for the Vegueros (farmers) to make their own cigars. Visitors to this part of Pinar del Rio province often want to try such cigars made in the land where the best tobacco in the world is grown.

XVIII Habanos Festival Releases

XVIII Habanos Festival Releases

London England, March 10th.

With the 18th Habanos Festival over, it's time to look at what was showcased and released this year. It was a big year for Habanos S.A., and with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Cohiba, we should have known that big and expensive things were expected. Let's take a look at the releases.

Regular Production:

Cohiba Medio Siglo: A new petit robusto for the Cohiba brand, the Medio Siglo falls under the Linea 1492 line, and is a 102 mm (4") by 52 ring gauge release. It is available in the standard 25 count boxes, and is also available in tubes, 3 count cardboard boxes. The price has not been released, but I imagine it will be fairly affordable when looking at Cohiba offerings. It is a 2016 release, but who knows when these will hit the market. This is actually the new Cohiba release that I am really interested in.

Edición Limitada 2016:

Trinidad Topes Edición Limitada 2016 (2016): The Trinidad brand is back and bigger than the 2014 Vigia. The Topes will measure 125 mm (4.9") with a 56 ring gauge, and will be a new robusto vitola titled Topes. Like most Trinidad releases, it will come in 12 count boxes and this is going to be a thick robusto. I am interested to see how the Topes smokes as I have loved what they have done for the brand with the Vigia, but you never know with a limitada. If they give it a super dark wrapper, it will need a lot of age and might throw the brand's profile off as well.

Romeo y Julieta Capuletos Edición Limitada (2016): Since 2012, the RyJ brand has been getting a lot of attention, and for 2016 the brand is back with a limited edition. The last limitada release for Romeo y Julieta was in 2013, but they have had some exciting releases much bigger than that. The Capuletos will come in 25 count boxes and will be a larger releases overall. It is a robusto extra titled Sobresalientes, and it will measure 153 mm (6") with a 53 ring gauge. The RyJ brand overall does not do well for me, and with this being a limitada that comes in 25 count boxes, it will not be a priority.

Montecristo Dantés Edición Limitada (2016): Probably the most exciting limited edition release this year, the Montecristo brand is a brand that always delivers with its limited releases. The Dantés is the smallest of new releases in terms of ring gauge, and is a Grand Corona that measures 167 mm (6.6") wih a 48 ring gauge. It is classified as a Hermosos No. 1, and will come in ten count boxes. Prices has not been announced, neither has the production number, and that is not surprising. This is the limited release that I will gravitate towards, without a doubt.

Reserva Cosecha 2012:

Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012: It has been two years since the last Reserva release, and for this year we are honoring the Hoyo de Monterrey brand for the first time. The release will be your Epicure No. 2 vitola, 124 mm (4.9) with a 50 ring gauge vitola, but will be composed of tobacco from the 2012 harvest. The Habanos will be packaged in 20 count boxes, and only 5,000 are being made. As with past releases, they will be numbered, and I am expecting a balanced, creamy and delightful Epicure No. 2 release. How will it stalk to other Epicure No. 2s,

Commemorative Releases:

Cuaba 20 Aniversario: It's been 20 year since Cuaba was launched and to honor that 20th anniversary, Habanos S.A. released a 50 count humidor for the brand in a new vitola offering. It is a double perfecto, as to be expected, and measures 170 mm (6.7") with a 56 ring gauge at the bell. I don't know what else to say, its a Cuaba.

Cohiba Majestuoso 1966: Celebrating the Cohiba brand's 50th anniversary, Habanos S.A. had two releases.

The Humidor Cohiba 1966 is one of two special editions to commemorate the Cohiba brand’s fiftieth anniversary, as indicated in the filleted band habanos from this edition have been decked out with

The Cohiba Majestuoso 1966 vitola –unseen in Habano’s vitola stock- is the deluxe dweller of the Humidor Cohiba 1966, Special Commemorative Edition, an exclusive box featuring a one-and-only design and containing 20 habanos.

“Cohiba Majestuoso 1966” (ring gauge 58 x 150 mm long) is a commemorative edition with barely 1,966 units rolled, specially designed by Habanos S.A. to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the brand.

Its strong-tasting blend is intended to Cohiba aficionados who love intense flavors.

The Cohiba Majestuoso 1966 vitola has special sizes unseen in any other Cohiba product nor in Habano’s standard vitola portfolio. It’s a very special product for both enthusiasts of the Cohiba brand and the overall habano buff, thanks to its new format, thick ring gauge, exquisite blend and strong taste, designed for those smokers who love complex and intense tastes.

This commemorative edition is presented in an exclusively-designed and limited-edition humidor, featuring elegant simplicity and a subtle layout of vintage-style curves that pay tribute to the launch of the brand back in the 1960s.

Right of top of the shiny black-lacquered lid of this humidor-case, the Cohiba 50 Aniversario seal stands out, to be stamped on the brand’s different initiatives in the course of this year 2016. The inner side of the lid has a small plaque tacked on it to indicate the box number within this exclusive output of 1,966 pieces the series is made up of.

Habanos in this edition also boast new and exclusive presentations. In addition to the brand’s band, these habanos feature a commemorative filleted band in black and gilt, showing the 50 Aniversario seal and the dates spanning from the foundational year to date.

50 years of Cohiba at the XVIII Habanos Festival, Cuba

50 years of Cohiba at the XVIII Habanos Festival, Cuba

London England, March 1st.

This is a special edition commemorating the 50th anniversary of Cohiba. A unique and unrepeatable series of just 50 humidors with 50 Habanos each, all individually numbered. The vitola Cohiba 50 Aniversario (60 ring gauge x 178 mm length) is the first in the Habanos portfolio with a 60 ring gauge (23.80 mm).

This edition is presented in an exclusive luxury cabinet, lined in authentic Cuban tobacco leaves covered in 24-carat gold, and is numbered and personalised with the owner's name.

The 2500 Habanos in this edition have been made with the flavours that have been most characteristic of the brand over its five decades of existence, featuring a medium to full strength flavour.

They have all been made Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga -Totally by Hand with Long Filler -in the near-mythical El Laguito factory in Havana, after a selection of exquisite wrapper, filler and binder leaves from the finest vegas - fields - in Vuelta Abajo* (D.O.P.)

The Cohiba 50 Aniversario humidor is full of new ideas and fine detailing. The Habanos it contains have had a beautiful primary band designed in black and gold with the 50th anniversary seal, in which some characteristic elements from Cohiba, such as the grid, have been reinterpreted in an innovative way.

This commemorative edition is presented in an exclusive luxury cabinet humidor, with production limited to only 50 units. The case is made of different precious woods, including Makassar ebony, sycamore and Guarea Cedrata or Scented Guarea. The innovative external marquetry decorating its doors is the result of a long process of experimentation, in which carefully selected authentic "ligero" Vuelta Abajo* leaves were coated with 24-carat gold leaf.

The piece is a work of art and a unique collector's item, and has been a real challenge in terms of innovation both from the point of view of artisan decoration as well as technical development and design.

The humidor has been made by the firm Elie Bleu. Each humidor will be numbered (01 to 50) and personalised with the owner's name, and each buyer will also receive a certificate of ownership and authenticity issued by Habanos S.A.

In addition, following the innovative profile of the Cohiba brand and this project, this cabinet features a device that allows its owner to follow the temperature and humidity conditions in the humidor directly on their smartphone or tablet.

Cohiba 50 Aniversario Humidors on auction

The cabinet humidor numbered 01 was auctioned at the traditional humidor auction concluding the XVIII Habanos Festival Gala Evening, with which has managed to raise 320,000 euros (£246,400). The remaining 49 humidors will be auctioned by exclusive Habanos distributors around the world at an auction to be held in Havana in June at which Cohiba 50 Aniversario has a good chance of reaching the highest price ever attained by a Premium cigar.

Davidoff Bringing Two New Winston Churchills

Davidoff Bringing Two New Winston Churchills

London England, February 10th.

As expected, Davidoff's revamped Winston Churchill line will be getting two new vitolas

In many ways, the new Davidoff Winston Churchill Belicoso (4 1/2 x 46) and Petit Panetela (4 x 38) fill the void left behind by the company's makeover of the line earlier this year. The old Winston Churchill had the Lancaster (4 1/2 x 46) and Spitfire (4 x 38), two smaller vitolas sold in tins.

While the cigars carry the Davidoff Winston Churchill branding and are part of the line, the blends appear to be different on paper. The smaller sizes use an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, Peruvian pelo de oro viso binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The other four larger sizes in the line use an Ecuadorian Rojiza wrapper and Mexican San Andrés binder.

The cigars fill out the "six faces" of Sir Winston Churchill Davidoff presented last year.

New 2016 EMS Stamp

New 2016 EMS Stamp

London England, January 4th.
Hunters & Frankau have issued the new English Market Selection (EMS) badge for 2016.

Bolivar 'BELGRAVIA' 2015 UK Habanos Regional Edition

Bolivar 'BELGRAVIA' 2015 UK Habanos Regional Edition

London England, November 10th. Hunters & Frankau launched the latest UK Regional Edition, the Bolivar Belgravia on Tuesday 10th November at a trade only event. Although this cigar was originally showcased earlier this year at Hunters & Frankau’s 225th Anniversary party on 19th June, it is only now that they have been released into the UK market.

The Bolivar Belgravia is named after the area where H&F held their 225th Anniversary party on 19th June this year. The brand was also the natural choice as a further commemoration to the Anniversary as in the eastern corner of Belgrave Square, the location where the actual celebrations were held, stands the only statue in the UK of Simon Bolivar, a Venezuelan military and political leader who played an instrumental role in liberating much of South America from Spanish rule. His portrait adorns every box and band of Bolivar cigars as the brand was named after him upon its birth in 1902.

Measuring 5¼ inches (130mm) by 55 ring gauge, the Belgravia shares its dimensions with the extremely popular R&J Wide Churchill (VdG Montesco) which is the only cigar of this size currently in the standard Habanos portfolio. Presented in SBN boxes of 10 with the papeleta positioned on the side of the box, the cigars are double banded with the second denoting the fact that it is a UK Regional Edition.

The cigars are now available to order.

Measuring 5 7/8” (150mm) x 54 ring gauge, it is also the widest Hoyo de Monterrey in current production and shares its dimensions with the Montecristo Open Eagle (known a Geniales within the factories of Cuba).

Although Hoyo de Monterrey is classified as a Light flavoured Habanos brand, the ‘Le Hoyo’ series is often considered as slightly fuller and slightly spicier.

The San Juan y Martínez tobacco district within Pinar del Rio not only provided the inspiration for this cigar’s name, but it is also the source of all the Seco and Ligero leaves within the blend.

Le Hoyo de San Juan: Hoyo de Monterrey Now Available in Boxes of 10

Le Hoyo de San Juan: Hoyo de Monterrey Now Available in Boxes of 10

London England August 18th. A historic line within a brand that's pure tradition in itself, like Hoyo de Monterrey, is now featuring the brand-new Le Hoyo de San Juan, a vitola that was one of the revelation of the 16th Habano Festival.

As of 2014, the Le Hoyo de San Juan is the biggest ring gauged Hoyo de Monterrey in current production. What's interesting about this release however, is that the Cigar would be part of the Le Hoyo series, that is dominated by thinner ring gauged Cigars.

The size of its factory vitola (Geniales, ring gauge 54 x 150 mm long), augurs quite a huge acclaim for Le Hoyo de San Juan among not only the brand's enthusiasts, but also lovers of thick ring-gauge and midsize cigars, not to mention for scores of people who prefer a consistent and well-balanced habano in the same breath.

Le Hoyo de San Juan is now available in the brand's classic sliding box (SLD), of 10 and 25 cigars.

What's more, these boxes add innovations in the brand's image. Firstly, the adhesive outer paper inlays for the 25- and 10- boxes. Also the wrapping ribbon that spruces up the 25-cigar bundle is now white, a token that would definitely help identify the new Hoyo de Monterrey vitola among the brand's enthusiasts.

Last but not least, Le Hoyo de San Juan will carry the new Le Hoyo Series band that tells this vitola apart, still featuring the traditional red color and the brand's image on the lower side.

PARTAGAS

PARTAGAS "MADURO No.1" RELEASED, AVAILABLE ONLY IN HAVANA CIGAR SPECIALISTS !

London, England, August 18th. Partagas Maduro No.1 is presented in SBN boxes of 25, measure 5 1/8" x 52 (VdG: Maduro No.1) and are dressed with a second identifying band.

REDISCOVER JOYA! REDISCOVER CIGARS

REDISCOVER JOYA! REDISCOVER CIGARS "JOYA RED"

London, England, July 1st, Mostly known for their more full-bodied cigars, Joya de Nicaragua set their sights on the medium-bodied market in 2014 and they hit it out of the park with the new Joya Red. Blended by the president of the company, Juan Ignacio Martinez, and longtime factory manager, Leonel Raudez, Joya Red is an exceptionally well made and great tasting cigar. The name comes from the reddish-brown hued Nicaraguan Habano wrapper leaf that drapes over the Nicaraguan binder and filler tobacco. As with many puros from this country, one would expect a full-bodied cigar, but the perfection in this blend puts it right in the middle at a medium.

MONTECRISTO MEDIAS CORONAS ARRIVE IN THE UK.

MONTECRISTO MEDIAS CORONAS ARRIVE IN THE UK.

London, England, June 24th, The new Montecristo Media Corona, launched at Hunters & Frankau's 225th anniversary party, is now on general release and available across the UK.

Media Corona literally translates as "Half Corona" and the size was first introduced in the UK back in 1907 by an English cigar importer who wanted to stop keeping his wife waiting for him at the theatre while he enjoyed the last of his Corona sized cigar.

However, from this one man's requirements the cigar quickly went on to become the most popular vitolas (sizes) in the market during the 1920s and 1930s. At one point it is estimated that the Half Corona, across various brands, accounted for one in every thirty Havana cigars sold in the UK. However, as tastes changed the format eventually faded from popularity until it was entirely discontinued.

That was until H. Upmann decided to revisit this long forgotten size and, giving it a slightly modern dusting down - it now bears a more modern, stout 44 ring gauge as opposed to the traditional 42 - relaunched it in 2011.

The Montecristo Medias Corona represents the second time that this format has been used and, at just 3 1/2 inches long, it remains the shortest long-filler handmade Cuban cigar you can buy.

Brand: Montecristo

Shop name: Media Corona

Factory name: Half Corona

Dimensions: 3 ½" (90mm) x 44 ring gauge

RAMON LLONES HUNTERS & FRANKAU ANIVERSARIO 225 CIGAR & COMMEMORATIVE HUMIDOR.

RAMON LLONES HUNTERS & FRANKAU ANIVERSARIO 225 CIGAR & COMMEMORATIVE HUMIDOR.

London, England, May 20th, To mark Hunters & Frankau’s 225th Anniversary, we are offering a very special Havana cigar and a commemorative humidor. Just 50,000 of the cigars have been produced in numbered SLB boxes of 25. Both the cigars and the humidor have been created to reflect Hunters & Frankau’s company’s long history in the Havana cigar trade.

The Brand

Hunters & Frankau chose Ramon Allones for their celebratory cigar because of its particular association with the Hunters side of the company. In 1911 John Hunter, Morris & Elkan Ltd, as it was then known, bought the brand’s factory in Havana along with its worldwide trademark rights. They were privileged to own the brand for sixteen years until 1927 when they sold it to the Cuban owners of Partagas whilst retaining the rights to Ramon Allones in the United Kingdom.

The Vitola (5 1/2"/141mm x 50 ring gauge)

All the Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225 cigars were made at the Partagas factory in Havana, the home of Ramon Allones since 1927.

Hunters & Frankau are grateful to the factory and Habanos S.A. for undertaking to produce a unique vitola for them based on the Gordito size, but with a “Cabeza Tumbada”, or “Dropped Head”, typical of the shapes that were made during their stewardship of the brand.

The Blending, Making and Ageing of the Cigars.

Master blender Arnaldo Vichot created the rich mixture of leaves for the cigars. Two different blends were submitted to a tasting panel in Havana back in November 2012 at which Jemma Freeman was also present. Once the final blend was chosen, production of all 50,000 cigars took place between February and May 2013 and was undertaken by just three top grade torcedores.

In the traditional British manner, the cigars were then shipped to the UK and aged for a period of two years in a condition-controlled warehouse so that they would be fully matured before being released to the market.

The Commemorative Humidor & 225 Anniversary Rum by Havana Club

In days gone by it was customary to buy Havanas in cedar cabinets containing anything from 100 to 10,000 cigars, or more. They were much in vogue between the 1880s and the 1940s. This type of presentation gave rise to the expression “Cabinet Selection”, which came not only to describe the Habanos of exceptional quality that were selected to fill them but also the Slide Lid Boxes in which they were shipped.

To commemorate Hunters & Frankau's Anniversary, they have commissioned two hundred and twenty-five, numbered replicas of this style of presentation each containing four boxes (100 cigars) of the Ramon Allones Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225.

The cabinet, every one of which is personally signed by Jemma Freeman, is equipped with two Xikar Crystal humidifiers and comes with one hundred commemorative cigar spills. The lid at the top lifts up to reveal a humidified compartment for dispensing single cigars topped with a ceramic plaque on which the Ramon Allones insignia is emblazoned.

Each humidor is delivered with a complimentary 50cl bottle of very special rum prepared by Havana Club’s master blender Asbel Morales to marry with the taste of the cigar. Also called the Hunters & Frankau Aniversario 225, Hunters & Frankau thank Havana Club for supporting the celebrations by producing 500 numbered bottles of this precious spirit from selected vintage casks. None will be for sale, but if they were, the value would be some £300 per bottle.

The final selection of the rum to match the cigar took place in November 2014 when Jemma Freeman travelled to Havana with some of the Aniversario 225 cigars that had already benefitted from some eighteen months of ageing in England. Commenting on the pairing Morales said, “I’m defending my rum’s notes and the cigar is defending its notes. They should not mirror each other, nor contrast too much. It’s like a perfectly balanced marriage.”

Also present was Odelaine Paneque, the head taster at Partagas. It is a rare event for the catadores (tasters) at Havana’s factories to light up a cigar that they last smoked a year and a half before. She was very impressed with the way in which the cigar had retained its strong flavour and had gained a perfect balance between its aroma and its strength whilst losing its early aggressiveness.

The manufacture of the humidors

The humidors were manufactured by DeART S.r.l. situated in Calvenzano near Milan in northern Italy. Massimo de Munari, whose family owns the company, has built an enviable reputation over the last five years for making exceptional humidors, which he has supplied to many clubs, restaurants and private homes in Britain.

DeART’s skills in making fine furniture of the highest quality left them with no doubt that Massimo and his team were the right people to make the humidors. The project started in the summer of 2013 and since then has been through many phases of prototypes and design changes to reach the finished product. Manufacture commenced in January 2015 and the humidors were delivered at the end of March.

Jemma Freeman paid a visit to Italy during the production run and was able to witness the extraordinary care and attention to detail that went into the humidors; a fitting compliment to the quality of the cigars that they will contain.

THE RENAISSANCE OF DAVIDOFF WINSTON CHURCHILL RANGE

THE RENAISSANCE OF DAVIDOFF WINSTON CHURCHILL RANGE

London, England, April 15th, Sir Winston Churchill was an aristocrat, born into the family of the Dukes of Marlborough. He grew to develop a taste for the finer things in life. Amongst them, cigars. A line of exclusive cigars bearing the name of and befitting the world’s most iconic cigar aficionado. Sir Winston Churchill was relaunched by Davidoff Cigars, the manufacturer of premium cigars and accessories that have set standards for many years.

Davidoff Winston Churchill exclusive cigars are uniquely diverse as the man who inspired them. The Great Man’s persona, the trait of character, was the inspiration for the chosen formats. This exclusive cigar range from Davidoff is composed of a new characterful blend. It is crafted with tobaccos coming from four different countries: Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Ecuador.

We feel sure that Sir Winston would have enjoyed sharing one of these exceptional cigars which surely do justice to one of the most celebrated cigar lovers in history: The Aristocrat, The Artist, The Commander, The Raconteur, The Statesman, The Traveler "these are cigars of character," said Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, CEO of Oettinger Davidoff.

Strength of the blend is medium to full body with a wide palette of exciting flavours and aromas. The cigars are adorned with a shiny and oily wrapper with a slight reddish touch. Due to the different Seco tobaccos, the cigars deliver an excellent, even burn and a firm white ash.

The wooden cigar boxes have been crafted in an elegant white design showcasing the iconic silhouette of Sir Winston Churchill.

The Davidoff Winston Churchill cigar range includes: Winston Churchill Petit Corona (41 RG x 4 ½; the shortest cigar in the range), Robusto (52 RG x 5 ¼ ), Churchill (47 RG x 6 7/8 ), and Toro (54 RG x 6).

-Petit Corona ' Artist' (41 RG x 4 ½ )

The Winston Churchill Petit Corona is the shortest cigar in the range. Due to the smaller RG and the size, this cigar feels stronger and delivers less pronounced flavour nuances in the body. Beautiful pepper flavours together with dark coffee and toasty notes are dominating.

-Robusto 'Statesman' (52 RG x 5 ¼ )

The strength is slightly decreased and the flavors are more overt. The complexity of the cigar is more amplified and the flavours more pronounced. Leather with dark coffee flavours take a front role with a creamy aftertaste.

-Toro 'Commander' (54 RG x 6)

Carrying the largest ring gauge in the Winston Churchill range, it is a grand cigar, from the first spicy, leathery, woody notes through the creamy, sweet influences of the Mexican binder to the final triumphant mix of flavours, courtesy of the Nicaraguan filler tobaccos from Esteli and Condegas.

-Churchill 'Aristocrat' (47 RG x 6 7/8 )

In this majestic format, the aromas are more pronounced, the flavours are multiple and the nuances of the different tobaccos are more independent. The body of the cigar is

very present, and the mouthfeel smoke delivers beautiful flavours of chilli pepper and cedar wood in the beginning, leather and roasted flavours in the second third, and finishes off with creamy and nutty notes.

TRINIDAD LA VIGIA THE FIRST VITOLA INTO THE BRAND SINCE THE ROBUSTO T

TRINIDAD LA VIGIA THE FIRST VITOLA INTO THE BRAND SINCE THE ROBUSTO T

London, England, January 9th, The new Vigia vitola wants to take up the slack left by others coveted dearly by enthusiasts of the Trinidad brand, such as Robusto Extra and Robusto T -they were discontinued in 2012.

Both the names of the factory vitola (Torres) and the store vitola (Vigia) make us wonder about the city of Trinidad and the area next to the Valley of Mills in the southern coast of Cuba.

There, the overpowering Vigia towers built in the 17th and 19th centuries to watch over the sugarcane plantations, still dominate the croplands and make people dream of the beautiful cityscape and the surroundings.

The name of the Trinidad brand is a tribute to the village of the Holy Trinity, built in the 16th century and declared World Heritage by UNESCO, nestled on the southern coast of Cuba.

Trinidad Vigía, complete with their usual distinctive pigtails, are presented in the classic semi boîte nature (SBN) lacquered box of a dozen units. The thick ring gauge and short length guarantee the exclusive Trinidad taste, something the diehard buffs of this brand and size -it's been increasingly catching on in recent years- will appreciate.

PARTAGÁS SERIE D No.6: ALL THE TASTE IN A WRAP

PARTAGÁS SERIE D No.6: ALL THE TASTE IN A WRAP

London, England, January 9th. Partagás is once again reinventing itself. It enthralls and awes followers and smokers with a liking for intense tastes.

It's once again making additions to the torpedo niche, a format that's all the rage now. And it also focuses on those smokers who want to experience a full explosion of sensations in a short span of time.

That's what the new Partagás Serie D No. 6 is all about: intense, scented and concentrated.

Partagás, whose Serie D only includes 50-ring-gauge cigars, has added three vitolas to the line with the new Partagás Serie D No. 6 (ring gauge 50 x 90 mm long, factory vitola D No. 6).

It's about a short-size format that gives smokers the chance to unravel the aromas and enjoy the characteristic intense taste Partagás has to offer, and all that in just about 15 minutes -it's definitely suitable for the new circumstances affecting cigar lovers around the world.

Like all Partagás Series, the D. No. 6 comes with the traditional red and golden band, quite a reference within Partagás and among the rest of the habano brands.

In addition, the new Serie D brings a couple of innovative presentations: the traditional SBN (Semi Boite Nature) box the brand is known for, yet containing 20 cigars, with all those habanos laid out in double layers at a similar level; plus an eye-catching and user-friendly case of 5 units boasting the Series colors.

Just another innovation at the image level is the sticker with the Serie D colors, something that will be progressively added to the other vitolas within the Serie: the No. 4 and No. 5.

Also for the first time ever, the Serie D box shows an outer paper layer for better identification of the brand's wooden boxes, similar to the one introduced a few years ago to the Serie E.

New EMS badge For Hunters & Frankau 's 225th Anniversary Year

New EMS badge For Hunters & Frankau 's 225th Anniversary Year

London, England, January 9th, Hunters & Frankau have issued the new English Market Selection (EMS) badge for 2015.

Although the colour of the badge changes every year, the 2015 edition has been specially designed to mark the 225th anniversary of Hunters & Frankau. There are several events planned throughout the year to commemorate the occasion, not least of which shall be an evening of celebration on June 19th at Belgrave Square (more details to follow). There is also a special cigar that has been specifically aged by Hunters & Frankau in the UK for the past two years and will be launched at the party. Should you wish to read more about the history of Hunters & Frankau, please click here.

- Come directly from Habanos S.A. in Cuba to Hunters & Frankau.

- Been shipped and stored by experts.

- Passed a UK quality check.

- Paid all UK Duties.

- The correct UK health warnings.

Hunters & Frankau 's 225th Anniversary Year

Le Hoyo de San Juan: Hoyo de Monterrey Reinvents Itself

Le Hoyo de San Juan: Hoyo de Monterrey Reinvents Itself

La Habana, Cuba 28th February. A historic line within a brand that's pure tradition in itself, like Hoyo de Monterrey, is now featuring the brand-new Le Hoyo de San Juan, a vitola that promises to be one of the revelation of the 16th Habano Festival.

As of 2014, the Le Hoyo de San Juan will be biggest ring gauged Hoyo de Monterrey in current production.

Le Hoyo de San Juan will be available in the brand's classic sliding box (SLD), of 10 and 25 cigars.

Partagás Serie D No.6: All the Taste in a Wrap

Partagás Serie D No.6: All the Taste in a Wrap

La Habana, Cuba 28th February.

Cohiba Robustos Supremos, 2014 Limited Edition The first 58 ring gauge Cuban Cigar

Cohiba Robustos Supremos, 2014 Limited Edition The first 58 ring gauge Cuban Cigar

La Habana, Cuba 28th February. The Robustos Supremos is the first Cuban Cigar to have a 58 ring gauge, making this Cigar currently the thickest Cuban Cigar in living memory.. The Robustos Supremos follows in the footsteps of the Cohiba Behike and Pirámides Extras in utilising the new Cohiba Hologram band.

When news broke regarding the Cohiba Robustos Supremos in late 2013, the ring gauge had been touted to be a thick 55 ring gauge, that would make the Cigar a magnificos. However, fast forward to the 2014 Habanos Festival, where it turns out that the Robustos Supremos is actually a 58 ring gauge behemoth!

Factory Name: Robustos Supremos Ring Gauge: 58 Length (mm): 127mm

David Savona from Cigars Aficionado

-"The Cohiba Robusto Supremos is a young cigar, but it's full of strong flavor. There are big notes of wet leather, roasted nuts, some sweet chocolate and a red pepper zing as you nose the smoke. The finish is a bit short, and there are some muddled notes on the palate from the youth of the cigar. I have great promise for this cigar, and suspect that it might turn into something quite nice with patience and age."
H. Upmann Reserva: Cosecha 2010, First H. Upmann Reserva in 170 Years of History

H. Upmann Reserva: Cosecha 2010, First H. Upmann Reserva in 170 Years of History

La Habana, Cuba 28th February. Maybe not even H. Upmann himself, the German banker who arrived in Cuba dreaming of making a killing in finance and wound up enthralled by his own habanos, ever imagined that 170 years later his brand would get its first reserve.

Upmann No.2 is the emblematic vitola handpicked by Habanos S.A. to roll out that first H. Upmann Reserve in the world market, featuring the Piramides vitola (ring gauge 52 x 156mm long), a torpedo -tapered off on one end- that will guarantee smokers to enjoy the brand's classic and fancy blend from top to toe.

These habanos -they are totally rolled by hand with long filler- are the result of a selection of tobacco leaves from the 2010 harvest, out of the finest plantations from the land of the world's best tobacco: Vuelta Abajo in Pinar del Rio, Cuba,

The leaves for the filler and the binder (Volado, Seco and Ligero) used in this blend for the first H. Upmann Reserve, as well as those for the wrapper, endured a long and thorough three-year aging process.

This first-ever H. Upmann Reserve will consists of 5,000 lacquered boxes with individually numbered cigars, as stated in the numbered plaques inside the lids of each and every case containing 20 units apiece.

This Reserve has been conceived for the great habano lovers, let alone a collectible item out in the market given its limited output and exclusive character.

Trinidad Vigía: A History-Flavoured Habano

Trinidad Vigía: A History-Flavoured Habano

La Habana, Cuba 26th February. The XVI Festival reached its halfway point, with a tribute to the Trinidad brand in the Havana Museum of Fine Arts. The guests had the exclusive pleasure of being the first to sample the new Trinidad Vigía vitola (ring gauge 54 x 110 mm long), with a heavy ring gauge and short length, which makes it possible to enjoy the exclusive Trinidad flavour in an innovative format.

The new Vigia vitola wants to take up the slack left by others coveted dearly by enthusiasts of the Trinidad brand, such as Robusto Extra and Robusto T -they were discontinued in 2012.

Trinidad Vigía comes in the classic semi boîte nature (SBN) lacquered box of a dozen units. The thick ring gauge and short length guarantee the exclusive Trinidad taste, something the diehard buffs of this brand and size -it's been increasingly catching on in recent years- will appreciate.

Montecristo No.2

Montecristo No.2 "Cigar of the Year" 2013

London England, January, The American publication, Cigar Aficionado, has awarded its prestigious "Cigar of the Year" accolade to the Montecristo No. 2. This is the third time that a Cuban cigar has topped the list and the first time it has been won by Montecristo, the world's favourite Cuban cigar house. Within the brand the No. 2 stands as the flagship vitola (size) and is instantly recognisable by its wide gauge and "pointed" head.

Describing it as "the undisputed king of torpedoes" the magazine goes on to note that the cigar is "teeming with rich but not overwhelming flavors of leather", such sweet spices as cinnamon and nutmeg and the cigar's trademark tangy wood note."

The cigar (sampled from April 2013 boxes) scored a hugely impressive 96 out of 100. To read their review in full, please Click Here.

New 2014 EMS Stamp

New 2014 EMS Stamp

Londen, England, January 2014, New 2014 EMS Stamp

Hunters & Frankau the sole importer of Cuban cigars in the UK have issued the new English Market Selection (EMS) badge for 2014.

The EMS description has been used by Cuba for over a century. with many people contending that it originally reflected the reputation of the English market for accepting only the very finest cigars that Cuba had to offer.

1. Come directly from Habanos S.A. in Cuba to Hunters & Frankau.

2. Been shipped and stored by experts. 3. Passed a UK quality check.

4. Paid all UK Duties.

5. The correct UK health warnings.

Alec Bradley Cigars NEW ARRIVALS !

Alec Bradley Cigars NEW ARRIVALS !

London England, January 16th, When Alan Rubin commits to a project, quality standards of the highest decree are implemented, sparing no resource in the process. As a result, Alan Rubin, the founder of Alec Bradley cigars, has been churning out delectable smokes since 1997.

Hailing from Honduras, Alec Bradley 'Tempus' is a concoction of tobaccos cultivated since 2001, carefully selected strictly for their incredible quality and blended to create the ideal full-bodied cigar that is as smooth as it is flavorful. Available in a toothy, zesty Habano or a smooth and semi-sweet maduro.

Produced at Fabrica de Tabacos Raices Cubanas in Honduras, Tempus is Latin for "time" which is more than an appropriate title for this blend. When creating Tempus, Alan Rubin spent years in an area along the border of Honduras and Nicaragua where a particular tobacco was growing in extremely small quantities on only a few acres of land. Alan began purchasing the best wrapper from this farm, in small amounts, over a period of several years and finally obtained enough to produce a phenomenal cigar; one that balances strength with flavor, creating a very smooth character.

Alec Bradley Tempus contains a mix of Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos, held tightly together by an Indonesian binder. These leaves are then concealed with a Honduran grown Habano wrapper, which adds a bit more strength to the blend along with some spicy undertones. Upon lighting, Tempus produces notes of pepper and earth with some nuances of espresso in the aftertaste. As the cigar burns, hints of spice overwhelm the palate but then mellow towards the nub. This cigar is never overbearing and is incredibly balanced, allowing for a smooth, full-bodied experience with a medium finish. Cigar Aficionado's Cigar Insider awarded Alec Bradley Tempus a '94' rating!

Alec Bradley 'Prensado' cigars are the first all BOX-PRESSED selection from Alec Bradley Cigars. The Robusto is a 5 inch x 50 ring gauge handmade cigar that employs a special 'Trojas' Corojo wrapper grown in Honduras plus a flavourful blend of Nicaraguan, Honduran, and more Trojos long-filler tobaccos. The cigar has a distinctive reddish brown colour and delivers a rich yet medium to full flavored smoke that will please many cigar smokers. Well worth trying with a notable 96 rating and No.1 spot in Cigar Aficionado Magazine in 2011 !

The latest release from Alec Bradley cigars, 'Black Market', was launched at the 2011 IPCPR tradeshow (a festival for industry geeks). This 4-country blend is jam-packed with Jamastran, Honduras and Panamanian long-fillers, capped off by a lively Sumatra binder and powerful Nicaraguan wrapper leaf. Upon first lighting, plumes of smoke fill the air as the blend burns with purpose. Unique and satisfying arrays of flavours greet your palate, as spice, pepper, and peaty undertones finish the ensemble. With a long dry finish, and slow burn, the Black Market cigar is a finger burner.

Partagas Lusitania Gran Reserva 2007 has arrived !!

Partagas Lusitania Gran Reserva 2007 has arrived !!

London England, December 16th, The term Gran Reserva applies only to Habanos whose fillers, binders and wrappers have all been aged for at least 5 years prior to rolling. In addition, only the "best of the best" leaves from Vuelta Abajo, the finest tobacco growing zone in Cuba and arguably the world, are chosen to undergo the lengthy ageing process to ensure that the final product when smoked will offer a unique balanced blend of rich flavours and mature aromas.

The first Gran Reserva was released in 2009 using tobaccos harvested in 2003 (Cosecha 2003). The size selected was the iconic Cohiba Siglo VI. Then in 2011, a second iconic vitola was chosen and the Montescristo No.2 Gran Reserva was released using tobacco harvested in 2005. Now in 2013, a third release has arrived and is perhaps the most iconic cigar to date to be honoured as a Gran Reserva: Partagas Lusitania, Cosecha 2007.

The Partagas Lusitania is a Prominente (Double Corona) and measures 7 5/8 inches x 49 ring gauge. The Lusitania has been the most popular cigar of its size over the last four decades and continues to be sought after by connoisseurs and collectors, even though modern trends are for stouter cigars.

Like its predecessors, the Gran Reserva Lusitanias are presented in beautiful lacquered boxes which hold 15 double banded cigars. Each box is numbered and there is very limited supply as only 5,000 boxes (75,000 cigars) are produced in total for the global market.

DAVIDOFF NICARAGUA, a new line which proves that Davidoff is still at the top of the heap.

DAVIDOFF NICARAGUA, a new line which proves that Davidoff is still at the top of the heap.

London, England, November, 1st Enter Davidoff Nicaragua, a unique blend that utilizes all Nicaraguan tobaccos - a first for the legendary brand - for a flavor that defies explanation....in a good way. Enjoy their first foray into previously unexplored territory and appreciate this fine quality handmade that features all the attention to detail you've come to expect from a name like Davidoff.

The cigar starts on a high note, with a flawless 10-year-aged Cuban-seed Nicaraguan Rosado wrapper. This vintage leaf is spun lovingly around a blend of long-filler tobaccos hailing from Nicaragua's premier growing regions of Esteli, Condega, and Ometepe. This complex core is then concealed by a rich Jalapa binder, kicking the level of complexity up another notch. Thick, billowing clouds of smoke greet the senses as this slow-burning cigar delivers all the way down to the nub. The best of what Nicaragua has to offer went into this one. And with a name like Davidoff behind it, it should come as no surprise.

2013 UK Regional Edition, the Flor de Cano Gran Cano will be launched on the 15th of October

2013 UK Regional Edition, the Flor de Cano Gran Cano will be launched on the 15th of October

London, England, October, 4th The 2013 UK Regional Edition, the Flor de Cano 'Gran Cano' will the launched at the next The Hunters & Frankau annual Cigar Party on the 15th of October.

This new release, exclusive to the UK market, follows in the esteemed footsteps of two remarkable cigars, launched 22 years apart.

The original, Robusto sized, Flor de Cano Short Churchill was released in the late 1980's but then discontinued in the early 90's. However, despite its brief production run the Short Churchill quickly gained a reputation among aficionados as a great cigar. Since then it has continued to be extremely sought-after. The box of 25 most recently sold at auction fetched a remarkable £6,600.

It was this cigar that provided the inspiration for the 2010 UK Regional Edition, the Flor de Cano Short Robusto. This phenomenal little cigar went on to become one of the most popular UK Regional Editions ever, selling out in a matter of months and quickly establishing itself as a classic in its own right.

Now, in 2013, Hunters & Frankau has once again selected Flor de Cano to provide a Regional Edition for the United Kingdom. This time the cigar is considerably larger. The Gran Cano measures 5 ½" (141mm) x 50 ring gauge, the size known as a Gordito within the factories of Cuba. One thing that remains constant is the eye for detail that has been cast over every aspect of production. From replicating the original blend of tobacco to reviving the unique green ink hot stamps on the SBN boxes of ten cigars everything possible has been done to ensure that this latest release is a suitable addition to this distinguished lineage.

The box will include a replica of a papeleta (the colourful end label) dating back to the 1930's and the cigar will be dressed with a redesigned band that carries the name of the cigar.

FLOR DE LAS ANTILLAS No1 RATED CIGAR 2012 - CIGAR AFICIONADO. NOW AVAILABLE IN UK !

FLOR DE LAS ANTILLAS No1 RATED CIGAR 2012 - CIGAR AFICIONADO. NOW AVAILABLE IN UK !

London, England, September, 20th The story of Cigar Aficionado's 2012 Cigar of the Year begins in Cuba, the island home of José "Pepin" Garcia, his son Jaime and daughter, Janny. Pepin began rolling cigars at the age of 11 in his hometown of Baez. He rose to prominence in Cuba as a talented cigarmaker, but yearned for freedom and opportunity. One by one the Garcias left, eventually making their way to Miami where they began producing cigars.

Their beginnings were humble: the factory was tiny, with all of a dozen rollers, and they didn't own the entire operation. But they had their first taste of glory with the Tatuaje brand, which they made for Pete Johnson. It brought critical acclaim as well as increasing demand, which led the family to venture out on its own, eventually constructing the massive and gorgeous My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Today, Pepin focuses his energies on growing tobacco in Nicaragua, trying various seed varieties. Jaime is the company's master blender. They released the Flor de Las Antillas brand in May 2012, using a variety of Nicaraguan tobaccos, their trademark double binder and a wrapper leaf grown in the open sunlight. They named the brand for Cuba, the largest of the Antilles Islands, which are called Antillas in their native Spanish.

The standout of the four-size brand is the Toro, which has a gentle, rounded box press and a beautiful and evenly colored wrapper. The smokes are delicious from the first puff, with notes of nutmeg, white pepper and just enough strength without being overpowering. They are hard to put down. They are classics, 96-point smokes on our 100-point scale.

The Garcias have worked long and hard since arriving to the United States, coming a long way in a very short time. Their cigars have made numerous appearances on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 list, but this is the first time they have won Cigar of the Year in 2012.

HOYO DE MONTERREY GRAND EPICURE - The 2nd Limited Edition of 2013 HAS ARRIVED !

HOYO DE MONTERREY GRAND EPICURE - The 2nd Limited Edition of 2013 HAS ARRIVED !

London, England, September, 5th One of three Habanos cigars which are destined to feature as Limited Editions in 2013 is the Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure, which has been released in UK.

I had the benefit of tatsting the new cigar at the XV Cigar Festival in Havana back in February and I was very favourably impressed.

The "Grand Epicure" is a large Robusto with a ring gauge 55 x 130 mm in length. Clothed in a typically dark Maduro wrapper which benefits from a second fermentation the cigar has a distinctly rich flavour and more strength than one would expect of a regular Hoyo. I thoroughly enjoyed my first taste of the new cigar and particularly liked its heavier girth. In fact the quality and condition of the cigar was excellent throughout. A superb draw aligned to a rich flavout marks this smoke is one not to miss once it is finally released ! Note. Great Aging potential.

The Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure will be available in polished wooden boxes of 10 cigars.

Brand: Hoyo de Monterrey

Commercial Name: Grand Epicure

Factory Name: Montesco

Measures: 55 ring gauge (21,83 mm) x 130 mm in length

ROMEO Y JULIETA CHURCHILL, Reserva Cosecha 2008

ROMEO Y JULIETA CHURCHILL, Reserva Cosecha 2008

Since its birth in 1875, Romeo y Julieta has become one of the best-known of Cuban brands. The brand is particularly appreciated by enthusiasts who appreciate balanced blends with excellent aroma. Albeit almost a year late in coming Habanos S.A. has finally released. the Churchill Reserva - first tasted at the 14th Annual Cigar Festival in 2012.

To create this Reserva only the best tobacco leaves from the Vuelta Abajo have been used.

However the tobacco dates from the 2008 harvest hence it is not a "Gran Reserva" - as were the Montecristo and Cohiba Siglo VI from previous years in which 5 year aged tobacco was selected - but a "Cosecha" i.e tobacco aged for just three years.

The emblematic Churchill vitola is one of the most popular cigars historically and is released with a limited production run of only 5,000 numbered cases, each containing 20 units. A tasting committee comprised of more than 50 experts have supervised the blend selected to guarantee a unique flavour, harmonious, balanced, and aromatic.

MONTECRISTO, The Myth Goes On

MONTECRISTO, The Myth Goes On

La Habana, Cuba, March, 1st- Heard of a brand with a name of its own? That's Montecristo. The Montecristo legend was born from the reading of Alejandro Dumas' famous novel The Count of Montecristo to cigar rollers at the H. Upmann factory in Havana. Since then, the legend has grown larger-than-life, as the famous character.

Penciled in as a tasting benchmark to size up the other Habanos, Montecristo step on the limelight during the XVHabanos Festival with the launch of two new vitolas and the presentation, with absolute respect for its history, of a new band in an effort to boost its value and image. Now a new proposal, aimed at reviling all that taste in a shorter span of time, has popped up.

Yet it had been a long time since the Classic Line didn't have a range launch, a move that give twice as much significance to the unveiling of Petit No. 2 because it clings to the brand's tradition by now adding a figurado, a niche in which the Montecristo No. 2 is quite a benchmark.

Completely rolled by hand with long filler, the ring gauge will catch on among smokers because of the easy grip and good burning that makes each puff a thrilling moment. For its part, the midsize length makes customers love every minute of it, despite a tough working day.

The exquisite blend of tobacco, exclusively rolled with filler and binder leaves hailing from Vuelta Abajo, guarantees faithfulness to the original Linea Clasica's mild-to-strong taste and captivating scent that enthrall both seasoned smokers and those who are now cutting their teeth in the realm of Habanos.

The Edmundo line grows on with the coming of Double Edmundo, also featuring the new Montecristo band and bigger size. This Habano of Dobles factory vitola delivers this blend's classic scent and taste for approximately a one-hour-long smoke.

Though featuring thinner ring gauge -large enough the delight passionate smokers- its length guarantees slow pleasure and intimate contact between smoke and spirit. In a word, this is a great opportunity to grab all the taste Montecristo has to offer… unhurriedly.

PARTAGÁS UNVEILS ITS FIRST GRAND RESERVA

PARTAGÁS UNVEILS ITS FIRST GRAND RESERVA

La Habana, Cuba, March, 1st- The Lusitanias Gran Reserva by Partagas - launched during the Habano Festival- has been designed for great Habano lovers and consists of a one-and-only output of 5,000 lacquered cases containing 15 units each, and individually numbered.

Hand-rolled with long filler by seasoned cigar rollers, its blend was devised by Arnaldo Bichot, the larger-than-life master blender at the Partagas Cigar Factory, under the supervision of the Tobacco Institute.

The wrapper, binder and filler leaves -harvested in 2007 and then subjected to a long and thorough aging process- were meticulously selected for this launch.

Hailing from the tobacco-growing lands of San Juan y Martinez, the Ligero leaves used in this blend clinch the brand's characteristic strength, owed to the region's rich soils. For its part, Seco's leaves stem from San Luis, famous both in Cuba and around the globe for the peerless scent of its cigars.

The character of Partagas' blend, made up of cigars rolled with selected filler and binder leaves out of Vuelta Abajo, gives this brand away due to their rich and intense taste.

MONTECRISTO AND PARTAGÁS WERE THE CENTRE OF ATTENTION ON THE XV ANNIVERSARY OF THE HABANOS FESTIVAL

MONTECRISTO AND PARTAGÁS WERE THE CENTRE OF ATTENTION ON THE XV ANNIVERSARY OF THE HABANOS FESTIVAL

La Habana, Cuba, Feb 27- This year the XV Anniversary of the Habanos Festival in Havana , Cuba featured no less than two new Montecristo vitolas: the sexy Petit No.2 and a new Double Edmundo, the first Partagás Lusitanias Gran Reserva, as well as the re-launch of the Vegueros brand in 3 sizes !

The historical Morro Fortress, located on one side of the entrance to the port of Havana featured as the location for the opening night party and proved to be an exceptional stage for the beginning of the week long event. At the "Welcome Evening" delegates were able to sample the two new Montecristo vitolas whilst being wined and dined within the castle walls by waiters and entertainers in historical costume ! The food, entertainment and ambience were exceptional. Anna Lopez from Habanos SA must be congratulated on creating a wonderful evening for all the guests who travelled to Cuba for this years Festival !

The new Petit No.2, is nothing short of sensational. A Petit Belicosos - for want of a better description - with a sharp little pointed cap and perfect shade of wrapper for Montecristo. The cigar is in my mind destined to become a classic - a chopped down Monte No2 appropriate for contemporary smoking enjoyment. Any fan of the Montecristo brand cannot fail to appreciate this new cigar.

The new Double Edmundo strangely did not resemble an "Edmundo" in any shape or form. The flavour is typically traditional. The size is excellent. The overall balance of strength and flavour different to Edmundo but to my mind better ! Not too short but neither too long a smoke. Iam not a huge Montecristo fan per se but this cigar I could smoke any and everyday !

What is novel is that both cigars will evetually be released in small wooden boxes of just 3 cigars - ideal as a gift for a fellow cigar smoker and the famous chocolate brown band has been re-designed to feature a red-gold fleur de lys at the heart of the traditional emblem. A real stroke of genius which serves to update the rather tired old design we had all become only too familiar with ! This stunning new make over makes the forthcoming release of the new cigars eagerly anticipated. Come on Habanos - I simply can't wait to once again try these excellent cigars !

Midweek delegates were invited to an evening where live entertainment and a five course meal enabled delegates to sample both the new Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure Limited Edition for 2013 as well as three entirely new "Vegueros" cigars.

Distratcted as I was by the new Limited Edition I failed to smoke any of the three new sizes that constitute the new re-launched "Vegueros" brand. However some days later I tried the largest of the three new small vitolas and was pleasantly surpised at how well made these short smokes were made. The smallest of the three - a mini torpedo - will likely become very popular with those wanting to enjoy a quality, mild Habano.

The XV Habanos Festival ended on Saturday 2nd March, with the Gala Evening in honour of Partagás, a brand originally founded in 1845, which this year presents its first Gran Reserva in its 168-year history: the Lusitanias Gran Reserva Cosecha 2007. These classic Habanos are Totalmente a Mano Tripa Larga -Totally hand made, Long Filler-, after a meticulous selection by Ligador -Master Blender- Arnaldo Bichot, of 2007 harvest leaves, aged for 5 years, from Vuelta Abajo, in the San Juan y Martínez and San Luis* tobacco districts. During the night, Italian tenor Darío Balzanelli, will sung the famous Cuban song 'La Comparsa', and the legendary Cuban singer Omara Portuondo performed with Maestro Patterson's orchestra and Maestro Santiago Alfonso's dance troupe.

RAMÓN ALLONES PETIT BELICOSOS REGIONAL SPECIALITY FOR GREAT BRITAIN

RAMÓN ALLONES PETIT BELICOSOS REGIONAL SPECIALITY FOR GREAT BRITAIN

LONDON, England, OCT 6.- We would have liked to have seen this new cigar come in boxes of 25 rather than just 10 cigars but the latest Regional Edition to be made for the U.K has fortunately been produced in double the quantity normally reserved for exclusive single market release ! This pocket torpedo will not disappoint fans of the marque and may well improve with age. But whether it has the impact, balance and flavour of the original 2007 Belicosos Finos is

difficult to discern at this early stage. It has a rich, earthy almost caramel taste, burns evenly and develops a fuller flavour quite quickly finishing on an intense high note. Iam just pleased that Cuba has produced a decent cigar to eradicate the memory of the non descript Ramon Allones "Extra" Limited Edition from 2011? Recommended.

The UK has yet another superb Regional Edition which was introduced at the Hunters and Frankau Summer party on 31st May 2012 this exclusive Regional Edition cigar was originally scheduled for 2011 but with the Olympics imminent the U.K. distributor thought it best to hold the distribution back until now.

BOLIVAR BRITÁNICAS 2011 UK Regional Speciality

BOLIVAR BRITÁNICAS 2011 UK Regional Speciality

Exclusive for Great Britain RELEASED !

LONDON, England, April 18th. We are happy to announce the release of the latest UK Regional Edition. Originally intended for 2011, the Bolivar Británicas is the first UK Regional Edition to carry the new Exclusivo Gran Bretaña band (previously Exclusivo Reino Unido) and only 3,000 numbered boxes of ten cigars have been produced.

The Cigar:

The factory name "Británicas" is applied to a unique shape in the world of Havanas. It can best be described as a "Perfecto", but it has the distinction of a wider aperture at the foot than is customary for cigars of this type, which makes it easier to light up and get going.

Why and when the name "Británicas" was chosen by the Cuban industry is unknown, but it seems certain that it was first made for the British market. The shape survived to the present century because it was adopted by Romeo y Julieta for a cigar named the Celestiales Finos, which ceased production in 2002. The original vitola measured 5 3/8 inches (137mm) by 46 ring gauge, but the Bolivar Britanicas has had two extra points added to its girth (48), which strictly speaking makes it a "Británicas Extra".

This very rare size has been specially made for the UK at a factory situated in the Santa Clara region of central Cuba under the supervision of the Partagas factory in Havana, which has the responsibility for the Bolivar brand wherever the cigars are produced.

Hunters & Frankau commissioned a reprint of a special label, known as a "papeleta", which was last used on Bolivar boxes over forty years ago, to wrap over the side of the box.

The Launch of La Flor de Cano 'Short Robusto' in London

The Launch of La Flor de Cano 'Short Robusto' in London

Created in 1932 by Juan Cano, this brand is often hard to find due to the small production quantities of what are generally now machine made sizes. However it has in the past produced medium-strength cigars and excellent workmanship in the handmade vitolas.

The current La Flor de Cano Short Rubusto 2010 has been released as an exclusive Regional Edition for the U.K market. The long awaited distribution of this unique cigar has been eagerly anticipated by connoisseurs and aficionados who can recall the original Short Churchill back in the early 1980’s.

This was a cigar which pretty much went under the radar back then but re-emerged as a significant investment commodity as prices for pristine cabinets of 25 cigars sold for well in excess of £4,000.00 on the back of interest from collectors in Hong Kong who recognized how this surprising cigar improved and evolved with age.

The new cigar has been rolled in the La Corona factory and is available as a limited production of just 1200 numbered boxes. To read more about La Flor de Cano and its origins visit the WebSite www.laflordecano.com which gives a fascinating insight into the history of this little known brand.

Suffice to say it just may prove again to be a shrewd long term investment besides a darn good smoke !
