Short Robustos

Montecristo Petit Edmundo / Single Cigar

Montecristo Petit Edmundo – Cuba (4.33 inches / 110mm x 52 ring gauge ) rrp £19.00

The Montecristo Petit Edmundo is only an inch shorter than its big brother yet sporting an imposing 52 ring gauge this pocket robusto has been launched with half an eye on the fact that many devotees of this best selling Cuban brand will not have as much time to enjoy cigarsA short ‘big’ smoke more akin in taste and effect to the classic No. 2 torpedo than its namesake, the newcomer is certainly a class act. I managed to consume over half its length before the beautifully ribbed ash finally fell into an ashtray. No combustion problems here and an impressive debut for such a small cigar. Recommended for fans of Montecristo. Following hard on the heels of the success of the Petit Edmundo we now have stock of the small Petit Robusto from Montecristo in smart new aluminium tubes.

Trinidad Short Robusto

Trinidad Short Robusto ‘T’ LE 2010- Cuba (4.00 inches / 102mm x 50 ring gauge ) N/A

No sooner have we enjoyed the new Trinidad T Robusto than we are presented with the “Short T” Edición Limitada 2010. Epensive it may be but the new mini Robusto with its dark Maduro wrapper may be a real hit with those who appreciate rich, flavourful cigars. Certainly a cigar to lay down for the future just to see how complex it becomes ? Loads of potential

Romeo y Julieta Petit Churchill

Romeo y Julieta Petit Churchill – Cuba (4.33 inches / 110mm x 52 ring gauge ) rrp £19.00

The last piece of the jigsaw in terms of the “new” range of Romeo Y Julieta cigars the Petit Churchill is essentially a “petit robusto” – a fashionable size that sits comfortably between the larger Wide Churchill and Short Churchill Robusto. In terms of strength and flavour the cigar favours the former with a typical aroma and medium strength.

Partagas Serie D No.6

Partagas Serie D No.6 ( 3½ inches / 90 mm x 50 ring gauge ) £17.00

The No.6 is the latest recruit to the Partagas D Series and joins the iconic D4 Robusto and milder D5 as an altogether shorter and more contemporary smoke. Measuring just 3.5 inches ( 90mm ) but retaining the same 50 ring gauge it provides the perfect “short” smoke for those who crave the fuller, richer flavour of Partagas in a pocket size confection. On first acquaintance I found the cigar to be a trifle coarse with a bitter taste. But this soon evaporated and the cigar mellowed to develop the familiar taste and flavour profile one would associate with a D Series. The cigars are presented in an attractive display box containing just 20 sticks. Tins of just 5 cigars are promised by Cuba but don’t hold your breathe ! Verdict – an engaging short smoke that will likely become a firm favourite in the course of time.
