Cuba was the first country to introduce the classic labelled cigar box in the mid-19th Century and it remains the best-known form of cigar packaging today. Unsurprisingly, the first cigar box opener followed shortly after.
This box opener has been inspired by an example owned by Hunters & Frankau which dates back to the late 19th Century and made by Shefield company Joseph Marples, a family-owned business established in 1840.
It is entirely handmade, with an Indian rosewood handle, a brass hammer, and a polished spring steel blade.
